Retired Aguero hopes to be part of Argentina’s World Cup

After he was forced to hang up his boots due to a heart problem in December, Sergio Aguero showed his desire to help Argentina at the World Cup.

Sergio Aguero

wants to go to the World Cup in Qatar and is keen on being part of

Argentina

’s staff in backroom.

The ex-striker went through a chest pain when playing against

Deportivo Alaves

in October and his hear issue forced him to call it quits.

The 33-year-old, however, is eager to be part of Argentina’s staff for the

World Cup

this year and is hoping they can find a role for him.

"

I'm going to go to the World Cup. We are going to have a meeting this week. I want to be there,"

he told Radio 10 in Argentina.

"The idea is for me to join the coaching staff. I spoke with [head coach Lionel] Scaloni and also with [Argentine Football Association president] Claudio Tapia.

"We have to try to give it a go to see what can be done."

Aguero made a move to Barcelona hoping to play alongside his compatriot

Lionel Messi

after the duo contributed t the Argentina’s Copa America victory in 2021.

Messi, however, could not renew his contract with the Blaugrana because of their financial issues and ended up leaving the club for a move to

Paris Saint-Germain

.

In the Champions League Round of 16 game against Real Madrid, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner got a lot of criticism as their victory was thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s goal after Messi failed to convert a penalty.

"

How are the French media going to kill Messi? Leo played well. Were they watching the game backwards? Leo always plays five levels above,"

said Aguero.
