Font: Generating expectations about Haaland is irresponsible
Barcelona presidential candidate says it will not be possible for the Catalans to land such a huge deal.
Victor Font
,
Toni Freixa
, and
Joan Laporta
will be competing in
Barcelona’s presidential elections next month. The three candidates are clashing publicly for the undecided votes and one of the main subjects of their talks has been the club’s possible signings in the future. Barcelona are undergoing a financial crisis and Font says it’s ‘irresponsible’ to speak about the big transfers in these times.
“Generating expectations about some of the stars who have dazzled us this week and the Champions League stars is irresponsible because it is not possible to sign them.”
Font told
Diario Sportin response to Joan Laporta’s recent comments about singing
Erling Haaland.
“A few weeks ago the same candidate didn’t want to sign Eric Garcia in the January transfer window because there’s no money at the club.
Font admitted that he admires Haaland’s qualities as a striker and said the Catalans will be looking for a forward in the next transfer window.
“Since the departure of Luis Suarez the sports structure is clear that the forward needs to be strengthened.”
