Leaked: Borussia Dortmund’s 2020-21 Season Home, Away, and 3rd Kits

As one the most popular clubs in the world, Borussia Dortmund is known as “Die Schwarzgelben” which means “The Black and Yellows” because of the striking combination of the club’s kits.

Founded in 1909,

Borussia Dortmund

initially played in blue and white vertically striped shirts worn beneath a red sash, and black shorts.

In the summer of 1912, three local football clubs named Deutsche Flagge, Rhenania, and Britannia merged with

BVB

. The clubs decided to stay committed to the name of Borussia Dortmund but went on with the lemon yellow color of Britannia kits.

Hence, BVB started to wear yellow and black 4 years after its foundation and has tried different designs and combinations of the same colors ever since.

Borussia Dortmund

appeared very strong during the previous season, finishing second with 69 points, after

Bayern

, who finished the season as the champions, with 82 points.

However, the team is still very young and hungry for success and has the opportunity to learn from distinguished players like Mats Hummels, Marco Reus, and Mario Gotze. With the addition of Erling

Haaland

 and the stellar form of

Jadon Sancho

, Dortmund’s offense seems very scary for other German clubs, making them a serious threat, for the new seasons to come!

Borussia Dortmund has recently come to a new agreement with Puma, and the company will manufacture

Puma

has been producing Borussia Dortmund’s kits since 2012. In 2019, the club extended the kit deal until the end of the 2027-28 season.

The new deal is reportedly worth €30million per year. Johan Adamsson, head of sports marketing for team sports at Puma has stated that the brand is looking forward to finding itself as a “clear number three” after Adidas and Nike.

Deals with major clubs like BVB are certainly a big step towards this goal. However, it seems like Puma and Dortmund have a much closer relationship.

According to Hans-Joachim Watzke, Dortmund’s chief executive, Puma is “more than a supplier and sponsor” and the “partnership has grown and extends far beyond the boundaries of a normal business relationship”.

So what does Puma have in mind for BVB’s next season's kits?

Time to take a look at the leaked news.

Borussia Dortmund 2020-21 Season Home Kits

No surprises here! Borussia Dortmund’s 2020-21 season home kits will display the traditional combination of yellow and black.

The base color of the shirt will be cyber yellow, while there is a bold graphic print that covers most of the front.

The design is said to honor the U-Bahn Westfalenhalle station, which is a key spot for the club’s fans to reach the stadium. According to Footy Headlines, Puma combines the BVB 20-21 home jersey with black shorts and yellow socks.

Borussia Dortmund 2020-21 Season Away Kits

Borussia Dortmund rarely uses its away kits because no other regular team in Bundesliga wears yellow. Nonetheless, the club’s 2020-21 season away jersey will be black. The design of the kits is inspired by street art and graffiti.

Street art is deeply embedded in the city of Dortmund and Puma is planning to pay respect to the urban culture of the club and support Dick and Blocking graffiti style.

There is a yellow stripe running from the upper left to the bottom right. The stripe is interruped for the sponsor logo.

According to Footy Headlines, black shorts and socks round off the look of the new

Borussia Dortmund 2020-21 Season 3rd Kits

Borussia Dortmund’s 2020-21 season 3rd kits will be mainly in white with an abstract graphic print appearing all over in shades of yellow and grey.

The shirt will celebrate the city’s U-Tower. Known as the Dortmunder U, the building is the intersection of art, science, and culture.

White shorts and socks are set to complete the new
