He grew up in one of the small suburbs of Rio de Janeiro along with his parents Edevair de Souza Faria and Manuela Ladislau Faria. Romario isn’t the only child in his family, he actually has a sister called Zoraidi Faria and a brother named Ronaldo de Souza Faria.

Romario kind of owes his success to his father for taking him to one of the Olaria’s matches when he was just a child. After the games, he fell in love with football and decided to join Olaria’s youth academy at the age of 13.

Pele’s full name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento. This legend was born on 23 October 1940 in Tres Coracoes, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Pele is regarded as “the greatest” by FIFA and also one of the most popular footballers of 20th century. He started his senior career in 1956 with Santos and kept playing for them until 1974, having appeared 496 times as well as scoring 504 goals.

It also proves the fact about Pele that his scoring ratio is 0.89 per game.

After leaving

Santos

, Pele joined New York Cosmos for which he played for another 2 years before announcing his retirement in 1977.

Eusebio’s senior career began in 1957 with a hometown football club called Sporting Lourenco Marques. Four years after starting his senior career, he had already been playing for

Benfica

for which he kept playing for around 14 years, making 301 appearances as well as scoring 317 goals.

Erwin Helmchen

And last but not least, Erwin Helmchen with a mind-blowing record of more than 982 goals during his professional career. He also has the most record of hat-tricks which is said to be at least 141.

Erwin Helmchen is a former professional footballer who was born on 10 May 1907 in Cottbus, Germany.

He began his career in 1926 with FV Brandenburg Cottbus when he was 19 years old and kept playing for different football clubs such as PSV Chemnitz, SG Chemnitz Nord and VfB Lubeck until 1952 before announcing his retirement.

Accordingly, by playing in only one of the teams named above, Erwin Helmchen had scored an estimated number of 667 goals.

Nonetheless, Erwin Helmchen’s international career didn’t last that long due to various reasons like injury and bad form. He first received his cap on 24 May 1931 and his international career kept going on up to 1937, but he didn’t appear in any international match afterwards.

He passed away on 8 June 1981 and was buried in the same place he had been inhabiting along with his wife Erna for several years: Kiel, Elmschenhagen.
