Guardiola: De Bruyne not playing at his top level

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes Kevin De Bruyne despite scoring against Brighton still has not been at his best this season.

Manchester City defeated Brighton 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.

Erling Haaland

scored twice and

De Bruyne

scored the third goal.

De Bruyne has scored two goals and provided nine assists this season in the Premier League but Guardiola says he can play better.

“He can be better. He's not playing at his top level, Kevin, not yet,"

the City boss said.

"He makes a fantastic level but he's not playing at his best. He knows, I don't have to tell him. His dynamic still is not perfect. He knows that, I spoke with him.

“The goal [he scored] is outstanding, thanks to him we didn't suffer in the last 15-20 minutes."

Guardiola also admits Brighton was the better team in the second half and De Bruyne's goal was a huge turning point in the game.

He continued:

"In the first half the game was really good. In the second half we allowed them to play, they have a process that is outstanding. A big admirer for Roberto and the way they want to play. The players feel in locker room.

"The turning point in second half, Riyad has a big chance, normally he doesn't miss, it's football. Then we concede. Emotions are there. In that moment they were better. Kevin makes a masterclass action."

Man City is in second place with 26 points and one point behind Arsenal who will play with Southampton on Sunday.
