Gabriel Jesus on not being included in Brazil squad

The Gunners forward talked about not being part of Tite’s Brazil squad for the international games of this month.

Although he started his season with

Arsenal

on the right foot, establishing his role as the central striker,

Gabriel Jesus

was not included in the

Brazil

squad for their friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia this month.

Following their 3-0 victory over Brentford on Sunday, when Jesus met the back of the net for the fourth time for the Gunners, he spoke to ESPN and said that he talked to Tite about not being part of the national team for the upcoming international matches.

"There was [contact], post-call, yes,"

he said.

"I respect the coach's decision a lot, I respect Tite, the entire staff, the entire commission. As I said, I'm Brazilian, I'll always root for the team. And I also respect the other players who have a lot of quality. I'll keep doing my best to have the opportunity again.

"What's in my control is my performance. I'll always try to do my best, finish the plays. Today I had some chances that I could also improve a little more, I know. I've been training, trying to do my best."

Although players like Arsenal, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Magalhaes were not included in the Brazil team, Richarlison and Antony, from Tottenham and Manchester United, respectively, were called up.

Brazil are considered one of the favorites to win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. They are set to lock horns with Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon in the group stage.
