The word “legend” is overused - Zabaleta regarding Sterling
With his seven-year tenure at the Etihad Stadium, the England international does not compare with an ex-club favorite.
Pablo Zabaleta
thinks
Raheem Sterling
is not a legend of
Manchester Citybut he did “a great job” in helping them get to a time of remarkable success.
The England international is eager to make his way to the World Cup in Qatar but the former player, Zabaleta, thinks he did not become an icon for the club.
"I think the word ‘legend’ is a bit overused in football,"
Zabaleta told
Sky Sports
on the matter of Sterling's legacy.
"He’s done a great job for the club. He came at a very young age and has been absolutely brilliant.
"[But] when I say legend, for me, [Sergio] Aguero, [David] Silva, [Vincent] Kompany, those guys and a different level. That is why they have statues outside the stadium."
He joined the club from Liverpool in 2015 and established himself as one of the best talents of his time.
He contributed to four Premier League title wins.
