Villarreal 2-3 Liverpool: Reds survive scare to reach the final

Liverpool beat Villarreal 3-2 on Tuesday night to book a spot in the Champions League final.

5-2 on aggregate. This is Liverpool's 10th appearance in a European final. Jurgen Klopp's side also reached the

Champions League

final in 2018 and 2019. They beat Tottenham in 2019.

Villarreal started the game brilliantly and scored in the 3rd minute. Dia reacts quickest to cross in the danger zone and steered into an open net.

Coquelin doubles the lead in the 41st minute. Capoue turms away from Robertson before crossing for Coquelin, who rises unchallenged to head past Alisson.

Liverpool regains the advantage in the tie in the 62nd minute. Fabinho drilled a low shot through the legs of Rulli from a tight angle.

Diaz who came in as substitute scores the second goal for Liverpool in the 67th minute with a header from Alexander Arnold's cross.

Mane scores the third goal in the 74th minute to complete the comeback in the second half. Rulli comes out to clear a ball but Mane beats him to it and put the ball into the empty net.

Villarreal finished the game with 10 men after Capoue received his second yellow card in the 85th minute.

Liverpool will face Real Madrid or Manchester City in the final on 28 May in Paris.
