Napoli coach Spalletti contacted Miralem Pjanic

Napoli head manager Luciano Spalletti is said to have phoned Barcelona playmaker Miralem Pjanic, indicating that the Partenopei are interested in signing the Bosnian international.

Pjanic departed Juventus last summer but has failed to make an impression at Barcelona, who are allegedly willing to work cooperatively to secure a transfer for the 31-year-old.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport,

Spalletti

has called Pjanic and will try to persuade the midfielder to come to

Serie A

Juventus has been connected with their former player, but the €6 million annual wages has proven to be a stumbling block for all parties involved.

According to the outlet, Barcelona is willing to work with a signing bonus to make an operation viable for potential buyers.

After the alleged phone call, Spalletti knew Pjanic's future was unclear, and the previous coach offered him something to ponder about.

Pjanic's contract with Barcelona runs until June 2024, but the Catalan outfit seeks to offload his wage this summer, and a return to Italy has not been ruled out.
