Chelsea closing the deal with Genk over Ike Ugbo’s transfer

Chelsea are negotiating with Genk over a potential transfer for the Blues striker after he has excelled at Cercle Brugge in the 2020-21 season.

Chelsea

are in talks over the details of

Ike Ugbo

’s transfer to

Genk

on a €5 million (£4m/$6m) fee, with the deal being completed next week.

The striker has been part of

Thomas Tuchel

’s squad for the pre-season but the talks regarding his future have not been shared.

The 22-year-old had attracted the attention of

Fulham

,

Watford

,

Monaco

, and

Anderlecht

after impressing on a loan spell at

Cercle Brugge

. Genk, however, made the strongest offer and sealed the recruitment of the homegrown star.

The Blues are going to miss their young striker who has been with the club since the age of nine but they will make money from the academy and loan group.

Having also cashed in on Fikayo Tomori, Marc Guehi and Olivier Giroud, Chelsea have gotten over £100m in players sales.

They are also considering selling Tammy Abraham to Roma for a fee of £34m ($47m) and the sales will help the Blues cover

Romelu Lukaku

’s signing.

Jules Kounde

, the

Sevilla

defender, is another player Chelsea are eyeing, but the La Liga side are standing firm on a £68m ($94m) price tag.

Notwithstanding showing off impressive performances last season, Chelsea are sending Trevoh Chalobah and Dujon Sterling away on loan spells.

Academy starlet Thierno Ballo is also reaching an agreement with Rapid Vienna over a loan contract.

Chelsea would also like to offload players like Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Davide Zappacosta.
