Firpo to earn double his Barcelona salary at Premier League club

The out-of-favor defender is on the verge of joining Leeds United.

Having added four new players to their squad ahead of the next season,

Barcelona

are keen to free up space in their wage bill. The Spanish giants terminated the contract of Matheus Fernandes, while Jean Clair-Todibo and Konrad de la Fuente were transferred to Ligue 1 sides OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille, respectively.

Junior Firpo

is reportedly the next player to leave Barcelona this summer, with the Spanish left-back being heavily linked with a move to

Leeds United

.

According to

RAC1

, Fripo is on the verge of completing a move to Elland Road, where he is expected to earn double the amount of wages that he used to make at Barcelona. The Catalans will receive a €15 million transfer fee for the player.

Firpo was transferred to Barcelona from Real Betis in 2019, but he failed to live up to expectations at Camp Nou. The 24-year-old, who was signed to become Jordi Alba’s long-term replacement, featured in only 41 appearances during his two-year stay at the Spanish side. Following the departure of Firpo, Barcelona are reportedly preparing a move for Valencia’s

Jose Gaya

. However, securing Gaya’s signature won’t be easy as he has two years left on his current deal and Valencia are not interested in selling their star defender.
