Former Brighton player Glenn Murray announces retirement from football
The 37-year-old spent the last season at Nottingham Forest, where he scored two goals in 15 appearances.
Glenn Murray
announced his retirement from professional football on Monday. The striker spent his career in various English clubs, including
Brightonand
Crystal Palace. Murray announced his retirement on social media, posting:
“To all the clubs, players and fans that I’ve come across on this life-changing journey… thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

“It’s been a pleasure, hanging them up on 31/05/2021.”
Murray joined
Carlisle Unitedin 2005 and helped them win the League Two title a season later. The striker moved to
Rochdalebefore spending three seasons at Brighton. After his spells at Crystal Palace and
Bournemouth, the player returned to Brighton in 2017. Murray held the record for most goals scored in a Championship season with 30 goals in 2012-13. The record was broken last season as
Brentford’s
Ivan Toneymanaged to score 31 goals in his side’s promotion-winning campaign. In the span of his 19-year career, Murray scored 217 goals in 623 professional appearances.
