Jorginho thinks Lampard became the Blues’ boss too soon
Jorginho has talked about Chelsea’s previous boss Lampard and his performance.
The
Blues’ legend,
Frank Lampard
, was hired as their head coach before the 2019-20 season after his impressive performance as Derby County boss. The best goal scorer in the club’s history finished the first season as a Premier League coach in top-four and reached the FA Cup final.
But his performance, in general, was not what the board and fans expected, and one of his key players,
Jorginho
, has named lack of experience as one of the most important reasons behind Chelsea’s bad results with Lampard.
"Look, I'll be really sincere here on Lampard,"
he told ESPN Brasil
.
"I believe, given he was a legend at the club, he skipped some steps necessary for learning before moving to a big club.
"He came to a club where he is a legend, without having experience at other clubs. I think he came too soon, skipped a few steps ahead and wasn't ready for a job at this level, to be honest."
After Lampard, the Blues hired Thomas Tuchel, and they have experienced only two defeats since his arrival, and see themselves between the top-four teams in the Premier League while they were sitting in ninth place when Lampard left, and they have also reached the Champions League semi-final and also the FA Cup final.
