Former Barca coach Ernesto Valverde refused to rejoin Athletic Bilbao

According to reports from Spain, Ex-Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde dismissed the opportunity to re-visitation of his old club Athletic Club Bilbao

Currently,

Barcelona

news is circling the team's face-off against the

Athletic Bilbao

on Wednesday night, which will be in the debut game for Los Leones' new manager Marcelino Garcia Toral.

An official club announcement from the Lions has affirmed that the accomplished Marcelino had been selected to supplant the previous manager Gaizka Garitano, who was sacked regardless of Sunday's 1-0 success over Elche.

Valverde was at the helm of Athletic for four seasons from the late spring of 2013 – leading them to the Spanish Supercopa in 2015 and qualification for the

Champions League

the earlier year – until he joined Blaugrana to replace Luis Enrique.

Notwithstanding, the most recent report claims Athletic made a provisional contact with Valverde half a month back – which was dismissed, as he was content with his present circumstance.

The 56-year-old has been unemployed since his Barcelona firing in January 2020 and is supposed to be comfortable with unemployment right now.
