After sixteen matches in Serie A, Empoli is in the middle of the table with 23 points and has won its game in Coppa Italia’s first round. Their head coach, Aurelio Andreazzoli, started his third spell at Empoli this season, after being sacked from Genoa on October 21, with the team in the second to the last position.

Giallorossi finished 7th and missed both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League instead they qualified for the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League.
