Arteta believes £30m Ramsdale transfer will make Arsenal fans happy

Aaron Ramsdale left Sheffield United for Bournemouth in 2017, and after a number of loan spells, he finally earned a breakthrough with the Cherries in 2019-20. After their relegation, the goalkeeper returned to Bramall Lane in an £18.5 million ($25m) deal.

After impressing with the Blades

, according to

Goal

, the Gunners have agreed on a deal worth up to £30 million for Ramsdale, with the Premier League club paying an initial fee of £24m.

Arteta told his press conference on the transfer:

"There is still some paperwork getting done.

"He had his medical as well mostly done. There is still some things to sort with Sheffield [United].

"Aaron is a really talented young goalkeeper with huge experience. He’s going to bring competition, which is what we want. Healthy competition, quality competition. We wanted a goalkeeper there and we ended up with Aaron.

"Give him some time. I think they're [Arsenal fans] going to love his personality, his character, the quality that he has as a goalkeeper and what he's going to offer. He has a huge, huge potential."

Arsenal had a busy summer transfer market. On Friday,

Martin Odegaard completed his permanent move from Real Madrid

earlier to join Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White as new additions to Arteta's squad.

Now focused on the players club has to offload before the August 31 transfer deadline, Arteta added:

"There’s still 11 days to go and there’s still things to be done. There are still players in the squad where it’s going to be difficult for them to find game time."
