Arsenal signed Odegaard from Real Madrid on permanent deal

Arsenal has finalized the permanent acquisition of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid.

After the two clubs struck a deal, the Norway international arrived in London on Wednesday for a physical. He will join for an initial fee of £30 million, plus bonuses of about £4 million.

After struggling to get into

Zinedine Zidane

's Real Madrid lineup, the 22-year-old played the second part of last season as a loanee at Arsenal.

The attacking midfielder made 20 appearances in all tournaments for the Gunners, with one of his two goals coming against Tottenham in the north London derby in March.

Odegaard, who will wear the number 8 jersey, will miss Arsenal's Premier League match against London neighbors Chelsea on Sunday.

Odegaard made his senior debut with Stromsgodset in Norway as a 15-year-old in 2014.

He joined Real Madrid in 2015 and became the club's youngest ever player, and accomplished the same milestone for Norway.

Heerenveen, Vitesse, and Real Sociedad loaned him out before joining Arsenal because he failed to play in the first-team at Los Blancos.

Odegaard made just 11 outings for Real Madrid's senior team throughout his six years at the Bernabeu, and he was not in

Carlo Ancelotti

's arrangements this season.
