Germany vs Denmark Match Interrupted by Thunderstorm

Play Suspended Temporarily Due to Adverse Weather Conditions

Referee Michael Oliver halted the Euro 2024 Round of 16 clash between

Germany

and Denmark in Dortmund as a thunderstorm rolled over the Westfalenstadion. The game was stopped shortly after thunder was heard and players were taken off the field due to heavy rain and hail.

UEFA issued a statement confirming the suspension of the match due to adverse weather conditions, including thunderstorms and heavy rain. They indicated that a decision on when the match would resume would be made in due course.

The interruption occurred in the first half, with the game stopped for over 15 minutes before play resumed for the final 10 minutes of the first half. Germany had initially thought they took a 1-0 lead through Nico Schlotterbeck's header from a Toni Kroos corner, but the goal was disallowed due to a foul by Joshua Kimmich. As the match stood, the score remained 0-0.

The match resumed with both teams on level terms at the 35th minute mark. The outcome will determine who advances to face the winners of the Spain vs Georgia match in the quarter-finals. Germany and Denmark will await the resumption to settle their round of 16 clash and progress in the tournament.

As the Euro 2024 competition progresses, the unpredictability of weather adds to the drama on the field, with teams adjusting to challenges both natural and competitive in pursuit of victory.
