Tebas criticizes Barca as new details from the CVC deal emerge

Earlier this week, Barcelona officially

they will not sign a new contract with Lionel Messi. Barcelona president Joan Laporta claimed the Catalans had not been able to finalize the deal due to La Liga regulations. However, new details revealed by a former official suggest a different scenario.

Speaking on the

 radio show,

Jaume Llopis

claimed Laporta was threatened by the club’s CEO

Ferran Reverter

over the CVC deal.

The CVC contract ensures the investment company will own 10% of La Liga with a €2.7billion deal. If the Catalan club had accepted the deal, they would have received €270million of the entire payment. An amount that could have kept Messi at Camp Nou. However, Llopis claims Reverter has threatened Laporta that he would resign if he accepts the deal. has been involved in the decision to reject the deal.

“The new CEO demanded a lot. The CEO of Barca threatened Laporta with resigning if he (Laporta) signed with CVC.”

Llopis said.

Many observers suggest that Laporta has rejected the deal because of the club’s involvement in the European Super League. Llopis confirmed this theory by linking Perez with Barcelona’s decision to reject the CVC contract.

“Florentino convinced him because he had already supported the Super League,”

Llopis added.

“Between the CEO and Florentino, they convinced Laporta that he has to fire Messi and not sign with CVC”

Javier Tebas

reacted to Llopis’ interview by publishing a post on his Twitter

.

“This is starting to become clear…who is in control of FCB?”

Tebas wrote.

“Without Messi, without 270million, perfect plan…”

The claims made by Llopis are yet to be confirmed by a third party. Both Laporta and Reverter have decided against commenting on the subject.
