United Set to Sign Zirkzee from Bologna for €42.5m

Dutch Striker to Join United After a Successful Season in Serie A

Manchester United

has reached an agreement with Bologna to secure the signing of Joshua Zirkzee for €42.5 million, according to Fabrizio Romano. Unlike paying his release clause, United will pay this negotiated fee, with the Netherlands international expected to fly to Manchester for a medical on Friday. Zirkzee will then sign a five-year contract with the club.

Zirkzee had a productive 2023-24 season, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. Despite Bologna’s successful campaign, which saw them finish fifth in Serie A and qualify for the Champions League, Zirkzee has opted to move to Old Trafford for the upcoming season.

The 22-year-old striker started his professional career at Bayern Munich, where he spent five seasons. During this time, he was loaned to Parma and Anderlecht. Zirkzee has also made two appearances for the Netherlands national team, both during Euro 2024.

Manchester United is eager to finalize Zirkzee's signing ahead of their pre-season tour of the United States. The team will face Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool during the tour, and Zirkzee is expected to be part of the squad. United hopes that Zirkzee's addition will strengthen their attacking options and contribute to their success in the upcoming season.
