Ainsley Maitland-Niles

, Ainsley Maitland-Niles joins the club on a six month loan with no buy options. The 24 year old central midfielder is a product of Arsenal’s academy and this will be his third loan since joining the Arsenal Senior squad. Roma wanted to include a buy option but it’s been reported that Arsenal rebuffed. It’s been Roma’s intention to sell Pau Lopez, Justin Kluivert, and Cengiz Under and try to buy the 24 year old, but there’s no guarantee that Arsenal would agree on the transfer in summer 2022. 

In 2014 Maitland-Niles made his professional debut in a champions league match against Galatasaray. He was 17 years old wish made him the second youngest player to have represented Arsenal in the Champions League. His first loan was in 2015, which he signed for a season long loan with Ipswich Town and became the club's player of the month for September.

Folarin Balogun

Folarin Balogun

joins Middlesbrough on a loan move until the end of the season. Middlesbrough has agreed to cover 15 percent of his salary until June 2022. Balogun was also the subject of interest from Europe, with French Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne among the clubs who were monitoring his situation. The 20 year old striker is another one of Arsenal youth academy’s products and Middlesbrough will be his first experience outside arsenal.

, who’s now the manager of the Championship club, wanted Balogun when he was manager at Sheffield United. Boro boss Chris Wilder said: “We’re delighted to get Folarin in. He’s a player I’ve known about for a long time and we identified him as someone who could come in and improve us in the second half of the season.“He has great movement, good pace, and he’s a natural finisher. We’re looking forward to working with him.” 

Balogun is a part of Arsenal's long term plan, and he only had six appearances for Arsenal in all the competitions from October 2020. He made his first debut for the senior squad on October 29, 2020, in a Europa League match against Dundalk as a substitute. His debut in the Premier League was against the newly promoted club, Brentford.

Sead Kolasinac

Sead Kolasinac

left for Olympique Marseille on a free transfer. Kolasinac signed an 18 months length contract with the French club. The club terminated Kolasinac's contract so he can go to Marseille freely in the Arsenal January transfer window of 2022.

The 28 years old right-back joined Arsenal from Schalke 04 in 2017. He was a part of the Schalke academy system. Kolasinac made his Bundesliga debut in 2012. He is capable of playing as a center-back and defensive midfielder but his main role is right-back. In a total of 118 appearances for Arsenal, Kolasinac has scored 5 goals and won a FA Cup. Winning two FA Community Shield trophies in 2017 and 2020. 

Kolasinac represented Germany at the youth level but he later played for Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. After his knee injury, Sead lost his spot in the squad. In 2020-21 he had one Premier League appearance and in the current season, he has started once. 

Calum Chambers

Calum Chambers will be the fourth departure, who will join Aston Villa on a three and a half year free transfer. The 27 year old English defender has made only five appearances for Arsenal this season. Arsenal did not activate a clause in Chambers’ contract that allowed them to extend his deal by a year before his move to Aston Villa. There were six months left on his contract, but Arsenal decided to let him go. Activation of the clause could give the club more control, to demand a significant fee for Chambers, or even allow him to leave on loan before reconsidering the situation in the summer.

, Lucas Digne, and Robin Olsen. Chambers joined Arsenal from Southampton in 2014 and appeared in 122 games in all the competitions as a center or right back. During his time at the club, he had two loan spells at Middlesbrough and Fulham.

Auston Trusty

On the last day of the

January 2022 transfer window

, Arsenal has completed the signing of the American center back, Auston Trusty from Colorado Rapids. The 23 year old will remain at Colorado Rapids on loan and will join his new squad in the Premier League in July 2022. Colorado is also owned by Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke.

The USMNT had an exceptional performance for the MLS team last season, as the Colorado Rapids finished top of the Western Conference in the regular season. Trusty had 41 appearances for Colorado and also represented United States Under-20. The USMNT also called him up to a training camp this January ahead of their World Cup qualifiers. 

“Auston is coming off an exceptional season in 2021 in which he played a vital role in helping us finish atop the Western Conference for the first time in our history”, Colorado General Manager Padraig Smith said. “Auston’s outstanding performances caught the eye of several European clubs over the past 12 months and we are privileged to be part of an organization with the reach and scale of KSE that allows us to help a player of Auston’s potential further his development and career aspirations in Europe.”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

officially joins Barcelona on a free transfer. Aubameyang left Arsenal by mutual consent to make the late transfer happen in the 2022 January transfer window. Aubameyang's contract with Barcelona is valid until 2025 and his release clause is €100 million. In 2021 December, Arsenal stripped Aubameyang of the captaincy and left him out of the squad followed by a disciplinary issue. The English club was willing to allow him to leave the club.

Still 18 months lefts on Aubameyang’s contract, which is worth £350,000 a week. But Arsenal will be saving £25 million in wages with his departure. There will be only two recognized strikers in the squad,

Lacazette

, and Nketiah, and both their contracts will expire in the summer. The 32 years old striker had a great spell at Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund. He scored 141 goals in 213 appearances for Dortmund. He was Bundesliga's top scorer in 2016-17 with 31 goals in 32 matches. 

In January 2018, Aubameyang left Dortmund and Arsenal signed him for a then-club-record fee, reported to be €64 million. He scored 10 goals in 13 Premier League games in the remainder of the season. Winning the Premier League top scorer award in the next season with 22 goals was promising. Aubameyang scored 22 goals in the 2019-20 season, too, but since in the 2020-21 season, his performance declined.
