Fabrizio Romano confirms Barcelona's interest in Chelsea’s Kante

After his injury record stalled Chelsea's contract negotiations, Barcelona is reportedly taking an interest in the 2018 World Cup winner as he edges closer to Chelsea's exit door.

N'golo Kante

hasn't played for Chelsea since the second game of the Premier League season, where he took a severe injury that ruled him out of action for four months, including missing the upcoming Qatar World Cup. Meanwhile, Kante’s contract with

Chelsea

will expire at end of the season, and at the moment the Blues haven't offered him a new contract. Reports suggest that the club will not extend his contract due to his fitness record in the last two years.

As

Fabrizio Romano

confirmed to Caught Offside,

Barcelona

has appeared as a possible destination for the French midfielder. Romano wrote:

“He’s happy in London but negotiations with Chelsea are not easy, so he has serious chances to leave on a free transfer.

“Barcelona are always informed about potential free agents, Kante included; but it’s not an advanced negotiation yet.”

After joining Chelsea in 2016,

Kante

has played an important role in the team's success and has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world. The

French

star played 34 games for this team in the first three seasons of his presence, but in the next three, he could not play for more than 24 games, and recently he suffered a serious injury and will be away from the field for some time.
