Ainsley Maitland-Niles

, Ainsley Maitland-Niles joins the club on a six month loan with no buy options. The 24 year old central midfielder is a product of Arsenal’s academy and this will be his third loan since joining the Arsenal Senior squad. In 2014 Maitland-Niles made his professional debut in a champions league match against Galatasaray. He was 17 years old wish made him the second youngest player to have represented Arsenal in the Champions League.

His first loan was in 2015, which he signed for a season long loan with Ipswich Town and became the club's player of the month for September. In 2018, after

’s first choice for right back. His second loan was in 2021 when he joined West Bromwich from February until the end of the season. Maitland-Niles has had 132 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, scoring three goals.  

Roma wanted to include a buy option but it’s been reported that Arsenal rebuffed. It’s been Roma’s intention to sell Pau Lopez, Justin Kluivert, and Cengiz Under and try to buy the 24 year old, but there’s no guarantee that Arsenal would agree on the transfer in summer 2022.

Sérgio Oliveira

The 29 year old midfielder from Porto is Roma’s second signing in the

January transfer window of 2022

. Like Maitland-Niles,

Sérgio Oliveira

signed a loan deal until the end of the season. Roma will €1m loan fee until June, but unlike Maitland-Niles, there is a buy option clause for €13 million in the Portugal international contract. 

"Roma have always shown a real interest in me and now I want to try and immediately help the team to achieve all its targets and continue to develop the right mentality," Oliveira said. "I am certain that my new teammates, alongside whom I cannot wait to start working, will help me continue to improve too."

Oliveira is a product of FC Porto’s youth academy and has won six trophies with the club. He has been in Porto for the vast majority of his senior career, playing in 170 matches and scoring 39 goals.

Robin Olsen

Emiliano Martinez

Olsen has struggled to get playing time at Roma since joining the Serie A club after an impressive World Cup in 2018. It is unlikely for him to have a future in the Italian capital. Roma has signed Rui Patricio in the 2021 summer transfer window from Wolverhampton and is Mourinho’s first choice.

Bryan Reynolds

, The former USMNT defender has an agreement with the Belgian club for a loan move until the end of the season. Kortrijk has agreed to cover his salary until June 2022. 

Bryan Reynolds is a product of FC Dallas’s youth academy. He joined Roma on a six month loan deal in the January transfer window of 2021. His contract had an obligation to buy for an $8.5 million fee and now it’s been six months that he’s an official Roma player. This is the first Europe and Italy experience for the 20 year old right back but over the past year, he only had seven appearances for Roma. he might get the playtime he hadn’t in Serie A. In Kortrijk, he’s supposed to be the first choice right back.

Kortrijk is in 9th place in the Belgian first division league table after 21 matches. Reynolds joins Brendan Hines-Ike and Erik Palmer-Brown as former American players to play for Kortrijk in recent seasons. There were other clubs across Europe who were interested in signing the American defender such as Club Brugge, Anderlecht, and Hull City.
