Malcolm and the provocation fees

A case study of escalation after Malcolm’s controversial actions and their impact on sports ethics and fan behavior

Last Tuesday, the atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and suspense in a large stadium filled with eager fans waiting for the semi-final match of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, where the “Leader” team struggled with the Al-Ittihad team on the pitch. While all eyes were on the pitch and the players, Malcolm, the standout star in the ranks of the “Leader” team, was feeling proud and happy after his team’s 2-1 victory.

Malcolm chose a different way to express his joy. Instead of celebrating in a respectful and classy way, he acted in a way that does not fit the spirit of sports competition and mutual respect between teams and fans.

Malcolm headed towards the fans of the Al-Ittihad team and began to show inappropriate and offensive signs to them, which aroused their anger and resentment. While the cameras were recording these unfortunate moments, comments were pouring in on social media, where many condemned this behavior and called for action by the competent authorities.

Despite this negative behavior, the Al-Ittihad club has not yet filed an official complaint about Malcolm’s behavior, which raised questions about why immediate action was not taken. According to sources from the “Our League is Different” program on the Saudi channel, the Discipline Committee will not take any action unless it receives an official complaint from the administration of Al-Ittihad Club regarding Malcolm’s behavior.

However, press reports indicate that the legal administration of Al-Ittihad Club is considering filing a complaint against Malcolm to the Discipline and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Football Federation, which means that the case may take a legal turn in the near future. Despite these developments, no official decision has been issued yet on this matter, leaving things uncertain until now.
