Serbian Mitrovic succeeds in scoring his 27th goal

Breaking Bafetimbi Gomis’s record in the face of Al-Nassr, and Al-Hilal surpasses its competitor in the number of penalty kicks

The Serbian player Aleksandar Mitrovic, who plays as a striker for Al-Hilal team, succeeded in breaking the record that was registered in the name of the team’s former French player, Bafetimbi Gomis. Mitrovic led his team Al-Hilal to a positive draw against Al-Nassr team with a score of 1-1 in the match that took place yesterday, Friday, within the thirty-second round of the Saudi Premier League.

Mitrovic scored a goal from a penalty kick against Al-Nassr team, thus raising his number of goals in the Saudi league competition for the 2023-2024 season to 27 goals, thus being only 6 goals behind the league’s top scorer, player Cristiano Ronaldo.

With this achievement, Mitrovic managed to equal the highest scoring record for a player playing in Al-Hilal’s ranks in one season of the Professional League, which was registered in the name of the French player Gomis.

It is worth noting that Gomis achieved this number during the season (2019-2020), in which he ranked second in the league’s top scorers list, lagging behind by two goals from Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah, the striker of Al-Nassr team at that time.

The “Opta” statistics network had previously published that Al-Hilal team has become the team with the most penalty kicks in one season of the Saudi Premier League championship, with a balance of 20 kicks, surpassing by one penalty kick Al-Nassr team, which got 19 penalty kicks in the season (2020-2021).

With this achievement, Al-Hilal remains at the top of this statistic and surpasses its competitor, Al-Nassr, in this aspect of the game.
