Pioli explains why he dropped Leao in the match against Sussoulo
Milan's Manager, Estefano Pioli, claims that Rafael Leao “won’t be from the start" as he decided to drop the Portuguese player to the bench.
Ismael Bennacer and
Sergino Destwere already injured going into this match, but the biggest surprise was Rade Krunic replacing Leao on the bench.
“Rafa played a lot in recent games, has perhaps lost a bit of sharpness. He is a very important player for us, he won’t be from the start, but can be later in the match,”
He then talked about Charles De Ketelaere who is replacing Brahim Diaz.
“Charles is growing, he has the quality and characteristics to be decisive in the final third, especially in a game like this. We expect to be in control of the game, take the initiative and create lots of attacking situations.”
He went on to talk about this match aganst Sussuolo:
“It has to be the game of the reboot, of turning over a new leaf. We want to win, that is beyond doubt, and we must play with conviction, energy and technical quality.”
If Milan beat Sussuolo, they could replace Inter’s second place in the Serie A table.
