Simeone insists Joao Felix has yet a role to play at Atletico despite ‘differences’

Despite having an uneasy relationship with Simeone as well as numerous rumors linking him with a January transfer, Simeone says Felix has still a part to play at Atletico.

Since joining Atletico Madrid from Benfica,

Joao Felix

has failed to truly gel with Simeone’s tactics with rumors of their off-field arguments also circulating around. But now Simeone has claimed that despite their “differences” Felix has yet a part to play at Atletico.

Felix who has scored 33 goals for Atleti since his arrival in 2019, has been linked with Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United for a January transfer.

Last week Simeone claimed that “no one is essential” at

Atletico

, possibly hinting at Felix’s departure but it seems nothing is set in stone as of yet and Felix must give his all until he is no longer an Atletico player.

"We have a good working relationship, beyond some differences that there may be between people. We can't agree on everything,"

Simeone told the press about his relationship with Felix.

"We have differences, but I always look for the best for the club until the last day that I or the players are there.

"We squeeze the maximum out of everyone until the last day that I or they are here."

Felix scored once and provided two assists for Portugal in the World Cup which has drawn Simeone’s praise.

"If he shows us what we saw in the World Cup, he will be very important. He has the conditions and the talent, and the team needs his qualities."
