I will always be grateful for the time with Guardiola - Arteta

Arteta has managed to get very good results so far this season and has raised expectations.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has claimed that he will always be grateful for Pep Guardiola's efforts during their time together at Manchester City.

Arteta was Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City for three years until he was finally appointed Arsenal manager in 2019. The two teams have a close competition in the Premier League table this season and currently the Gunners are at the top of the table and the defending champion is chasing them. Arsenal will face Southampton on Sunday and City beat Brighton 3-1 last night. Now Arteta has claimed that he is grateful for the days he spent working under Guardiola.

He said:

"I learned a lot about being at the top from Pep. The standards that are set at the club are not only to win, but to win in a certain way every three days, and be extremely demanding and critical, and at the same time supportive, so it's a good mixture.

"It was incredible to be part of that team and the evolution and how that team was built. I will always be grateful."

Arsenal have won 9 out of 10 games this season and surprised their opponents. Now Arteta claimed that he is always trying to be relaxed about everything. He added:

"First of all, I try to sleep well. Rest is really important. I try to look after my diet as much as I can. I don't exercise as much as I should do, I have to be very critical of myself in that sense.

"And then I have to keep a clear mind and to do that, spending time with my loved ones is something that really helps me, my wife, my children. And really thinking, meditation, something like that helps you."
