UEFA: All midweek matches go as expected except Rangers vs Napoli

Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II last week, England went into a national mourning situation as all of the EFL weekend matches got postponed. However, UEFA announces that European club matches will go as expected this week except for the Group A match between Rangers and Napoli.

Glasgow Rangers

were expected to host

Napoli

this week on Tuesday at Ibrox Stadium. However, the European football's governing body has announced that the

Champions League

tie has been rescheduled for Wednesday while other matches go as expected. UEFA also announced no away fans will be present at Ibrox this week, and to respect sporting fairness, Rangers' supporters will not be authorized for the return leg in Naples on October 26.

A

UEFA statement

explained:

"This is due to the severe limitations on police resources and organisational issues related to the ongoing events surrounding the national mourning for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II."

Despite

canceling all games this week

, the English Football League is set to recommence on Tuesday with a full midweek programme.

Liverpool

will host Ajax while

Tottenham

will travel to Lisbon to face Sporting for their Tuesday Champions League ties. On Wednesday,

Chelsea

and

Manchester City

will host Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund, with two Scottish sides

Celtic

and Rangers facing Shakhtar Donetsk and Napoli.

Fans have been strongly advised to avoid making travel arrangements amid the national mourning situation going on in Britain for

the death of Queen Elizabeth II

.
