Brendan Rodgers looks back on ‘difficult period’ for Wesley Fofana
Brendan Rodgers kept Wesley Fofana out of Saturday's team against Southampton due to his unclear future.
's top priority is Fofana as they look to strengthen their defense. However, the Foxes have already turned down two recent offers worth £70 million, and they plan to keep their price tag of over £80 million.
Before the game, Brendan Rodgers said that
Wesley Fofanawas taken off the team because he wasn't in the right frame of mind to help. After the game, he reaffirmed this point of view.
He told
BBC Radio Leicester
that the defender wasn't picked because he wasn't in the right frame of mind to help the team. "It's been a very hard time for him. He's 21 years old, and many things are going on behind the scenes that kept him from being ready to play."
When asked if Fofana asked to be taken off the team or if Rodgers made a choice, the boss said: "Yes and no. It started with a casual conversation." Rodgers knew that Chelsea had not yet sent Leicester a third offer for the defender.
When asked if he had any offers, he said, "No, I don't know of any." Chelsea and Leicester are still talking about a deal for Fofana, and 90min has heard that Trevoh Chalobah could be used as a makeweight, likely on a loan deal.
