Lukaku and Hudson-Odoi test negative for Covid-19
The Blues boss revealed Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s Covid-19 test results, which turned out negative and they can go back to training imminently.
Romelu Lukaku
and
Callum Hudson-Odoi
tested positive for Covid-19 before their 1-1 draw with
Evertonthis month as well as
Timo Werner
and
Ben Chilwell
. They missed the last three games across all competitions, including their 2-0 win over
Brentford.
Thomas Tuchel
revealed that the duo’s test turned out negative and they are able to return to training after that game; however, it depends on them and whether they feel better after their sickness.
“
If I understood it correctly, we need a negative test first of all and we have negative tests for Romelu and Callum and Ben Chilwell,”
Tuchel said (via the Evening Standard).
“Chilwell will not be involved in the Aston Villa game [because of injury] and for the other two, they will be on the pitch tomorrow if they are again negative tomorrow and then we need to see.
“The guys have been ill, they had symptoms, so let’s see. It’s a Premier League game in one of the toughest places you can play in the Premier League. It’s good news, don’t get me wrong, it’s very good news, but I’m not over-excited now because I know I need to check how they are.”
Timo Werner and Kai Havertz’ tests are still positive as are Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Lewis Baker’s.
The
Chelseaboss is hoping to get past this fitness crisis soon. Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech are out of action due to injuries but Werner seems close to being out of isolation soon and Havertz and Loftus-Cheek will follow suit after that.
Winning the battle against Brentford has seen the Blues make their way through the semi-final of the Carabao Cup, with it being a mixed blessing as it adds a two-legged match against Tottenham to a packed January schedule.
