top facts about Sergio Oliveira

, which is brief coverage of his Football Story.

Sergio Oliveira Football Story

The voyage started when he was eight, at the turn of the new millennium. The early 2000s was a great year for the Oliveira family. One as one of their own successfully obtained entry to play with Paços de Brandão local squad.

Recognizing his main aim in life was to become a footballer, everyone in the family, including relatives, handed out helping hands to see his aspirations come true. Among those were his big brother, Vítor, and uncle, Agostinho.

Sergio Oliveira vividly remembers how they carried him from their family home to Paços de Brandão’s training complex located in Santa Maria da Feira, region of Aveiro. Not knowing how to get himself to the training ground (alone) DID NOT take away his maturity on the pitch.

Back in the day, Sergio Oliveira was the brightest among his peers. Often dubbed a workaholic on the field, the boy had a work rate for someone much older than his age. As soon as Sergio Oliveira’s 10-man Porto dumped Juventus out of the 2021

Champions League

knockout, his old team created a video.

The content explains Sergio’s great childhood days. Thankfully, it has helped us reinforce our tale of him. Let's check out our player's Road to Fame Story in the next part of our Top facts about Sergio Oliveira.

Sergio Oliveira Road to Fame

The midfielder’s talent got him fast to FC Porto in the year 2002 - at 10. Our study found out that Sporting CP also fought for Sergio’s signature, which did not materialize after multiple tries. After many pleas, Sergio Oliveira’s parents opposed the transfer.

They did it since Alcochete, which is Academia Sporting's location, is very far (2 hr. 46 min or 309 km) from their family home. After a brief loan youth career with Padroense (loan), Sergio went back to Porto youth, where he successfully graduated from their program.

On the 17th day of October 2009, he became the club’s youngest player to appear for the first team. Sergio completed this incredible feat at the age of 17 years, four months, and 15 days. Despite showing so much promise throughout his early senior career, FC Porto’s coach (Jesualdo Ferreira) didn’t see him worthy of being a first-team player.

For this reason, poor Sergio began the path of a lengthy loan stint. Sergio Oliveira’s Porto exile saw him spending the most youth time of his senior career at different clubs. Even the likes of André Villas-Boas and the host of other FC Porto managers who followed after Jesualdo Ferreira kept sending him back on loan.

To make matters worse, Sergio played for more than four clubs via loan before returning, in2012, to FC Porto B instead of their senior team. Playing for the reserve side of FC Porto and not with the big guys got really aggravating.

Nonetheless feeling his skill needed more opportunity to grow, the poor child still got tagged as a surplus to senior squad requirements. It was at this moment that Sergio believed he had accumulated enough.

He left FC Porto and signed for Paços de Ferreira. At his new team, the midfield star achieved the first breakthrough of his professional career. We have one of his goals in the video below. During this time, FC Porto began appealing for forgiveness.

Sergio Oliveira Success Story

FC Porto stated they never lost sight of him even though they considered him surplus to their requirements. Two years later, Sergio Oliveira returned to his former team — this time, like a boss. Arriving with FC Porto, he became the crucial player in capturing the famous Primeira Liga championship.

Sergio remembers this triumph as he celebrated it in front of his family. The footballers’ success continued as Sergio, in no time, gained a Portuguese national team callup by manager Fernando Santos.

On the opposite side of affairs, he began using leadership characteristics - one that helped his squad cement the Taça de Portugal and Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira crowns. Did you know? … nearly all his records are somewhat obscure to many non-Portuguese football enthusiasts.

The reality is, Oliveira achieved the best of his career in the 2020/2021 season. It happened on a wonderful day, precisely on the 9th day of March 2021. On that day, he disclosed his name to the global football globe. Sérgio Oliveira sinks

Pirlo

’s troops by miraculously scoring a brace to guarantee his ten-man Porto eliminates Juventus

Sergio Oliveira's goals saw Cristiano Ronaldo packing his bags to join

Lionel Messi

– as they both suffered shock exits in the 2021 Champions League round of 16 knockout stages. So far, this is the most significant achievement in his European career. Memories of his night in Turin will long be in his heart of this man.
