Balogun will extend his contract - Arteta

Balogun's future may be with the Arsenal as he is nearing his contract extension.

Arsenal

boss Mikel Arteta has claimed that they are close to extending Folarin Balogun's contract, and described their efforts to persuade the 19-year-old star to stay in London.

Balogun's contract will expire at the end of the season and there has been talk for a long time about extending his contract. It looked as if he was planning to leave Arsenal at the end of the season as a free agent and many clubs were also looking to sign him, but now the Gunners boss has claimed that they are very close to extending his contract.

He told reporters:

“We are going to make it official when it is official and everything is done, but as I said before, I have always been very positive that he wants to stay at the club. We want him to stay at the club. We are very close.”

The 19-year-old star's new contract is said to run until 2025 and he will be committed to Arsenal for another four years. Sheffield United and Brentford had previously tried to sign him, but both clubs rejected an offer from Arsenal.
