Stoichkov: Whenever Griezmann is on the pitch, Barca play with ten men
Antoine Griezmann had a difficult time adjusting himself at Barcelona so far since he joined the club in the late spring of 2019, and his present performance has missed marking expectations.
The French forward has neglected to score a goal in his last ten appearances for the Catalans – a run extending back to 3 February.
Even with
Ansu Fati
and
Philippe Coutinho
right now among the non-available, the ex-Atletico Madrid frontman has failed to set himself up in the side's top picks for the starting XI.
The France international has found the net 12 times this season; however, his inconsistent form before the goal has caused disappointment for a few, including the club's previous forward Hristo Stoichkov.
The iconic Bulgarian striker contrasted Griezmann playing with the Blaugrana having one player less, and he thinks the player ought to be sold.
Stoichkov
told Sportsport.ba, in quotes carried by
El Mundo Deportivo:
“Whenever Griezmann is on the pitch, Barcelona play with ten players. If they want to do something in the long term, they have to sell him. Trincao and Braithwaite must be on the team. What is Griezmann doing there?”
The Bulgarian scored 117 goals across two stints for the Catalan powerhouse between 1990 and 1997.
