Laporta as Barcelona's president again

Barcelona FC held the election today after a more-than-one-month delay and Laporta was elected as the club's new president.

, calling the election process a "fairplay".

Carles Tusquets was set in the club as the interim president while the former club president was not in charge of the presidential responsibilities.

, and

tony Freixa

.

Laporta was the club's president since 2003 and was in charge for 7 years and managed to get the team to win four La Liga titles, two UEFA Champions League titles, and a Fifa World Cup title, which could have been the main reason why he is elected with almost twice as many votes as the second rival, Victor Font.

In an interview with

Victor Font over the Presidentship, he was asked if he would consider becoming a candidate again if he was not elected this time. but the 48-year-old insisted that the focus must be on the moment because Barca needs a change right now.

Bartomeu, Messi, Busquets, and Alba appeared among the voters.

Due to the pandemic, the club have been through financial difficulty and Laporta is supposed to support the club financially and make investments.

Lionel Messi

is the second in importance for the selected candidate. With his contract being expired at the end of June.

Laporta made a vow to call the six-time Ballon d'Or winner agent.

The 33-year-old had intended to leave the club before the pandemic started, reportedly due to personal problems with the president of the time, but stayed until now.
