Selangor will continue with 2017 wonder kids for another season

Malaysia Super League contenders announced the players who will continue their presence in the team’s squad for the 2021 season.

Even though the

Red Giants

have not still announced their new signings, they have revealed the players who will remain in the squad for the 2021 season. Among these players are the ones who have experienced a breakout season under Maniam Pachaippan back in 2017:

Sarkunan Krishnansamy

, Namathevan Arunasalam, and Malaysia international Syahmi Safari. These players were all promoted to the first team in 2017 and it has been reported that each one of them has a five-year contract with the club. Although Rodney Calvin's name is on the list too it has been reported that the player will be sent out on a loan spell.

Going down on the list we can see

Sean Selvaraj

’s name as he continues his career at Selangor for another season. He has not experienced consistent game time since he joined the club in 2018 but the team’s coach Michael Feichtenbeiner has put him in the team’s starting XI several times since he has taken over the team. However, the best news for Selangor fans is that Malaysia Super League top-scorer

Ifedayo Olusegun

has also been retained in the squad. The player had been linked to many clubs but ultimately has decided to stay at Selangor. The former Malaysia international Wan Zack Haikal has been retained in the squad too as he has recovered from a frustrating ligament injury that put him on the sidelines for the whole 2019 season.

Only one of the then youngsters who made their debut for the club back in 2017 will not continue with Selangor and that is Faizzudin Abidin. The 24-year-old has announced in an Instagram post that his time with Selangor has come to an end as his lengthy injury has not let him play for the club since the start of the 2019 season.
