‘Arsenal new boy could play for everyone’ says Merson

Mikel Arteta moved to bolster his midfield options over the summer, with another commanding presence added to the engine room at Emirates Stadium

Paul Menson claims that

Thomas Partey

is an “absolute steal” for

Arsenal

at £45 million, with a midfielder who could “play for anyone” addressing the biggest need for those at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are keen to add another commanding presence in their engine room.

Choosing the right replacement for a prominent figure has been always been difficult.

However, the sacked

Atletico Madrid

player was able to attract the attention of Arsenal.

“They’ve got that player now. Before you looked and you thought ‘not good enough in midfield’,” former Arsenal playmaker Merson told Sky Sports.

“You’ve got [Granit] Xhaka and whoever it might be playing with him. They haven’t got that pass, and they play deep, and it’s just workmanlike.

“I can’t speak highly enough of him. When they said Partey looks like he’s going to Arsenal for £45m, I thought ‘am I missing a trick here?’

“He could play for anyone, I look at

 Liverpool

.

“I can't speak highly enough of him, it's an absolute steal for Arsenal.

“It's a shame that

Ozil

can't play because I think he opens up the space for Ozil.”

It is unlikely that the Partey will have a chance to be with Ozil soon.

Party is in his best situation for now and for future. He could set to get another opportunity to impress when the Gunnars play host to

Aston Villa

on Sunday.
