Top 10 best battle royale video games

It has been a few years that battle royale genre or game mode is on the top of the list of most popular game modes all over the world, but which game developer has managed to execute or implement this mode into their game flawlessly? Welcome to top 10 best battle royale video games.

Many of you may ask what is a battle royale game mode? Well, here we are with the explanation. You probably have heard of the last man standing mode, which literally means the last man who is alive gets the victory. A battle royale game combines last-man-standing action with survival, exploring, and scavenging features of a survival game in an online multiplayer video game.

Battle royale games include dozens to hundreds of players who begin with limited equipment and must remove all opponents while avoiding becoming caught outside of a diminishing "safe area" or "safe zone," with the victor being the last man or team standing.

That safe zone is either indicated by a magical wall that closes in on the map or a natural phenomenon like wildfire. Any player outside the map takes damage. This game mechanic forces the player to rush to the safe zone to prevent the death of his/her character.

The genre's name comes from the Japanese film Battle Royale, released in 2000 and based on the same-named novel, which features a similar premise of a last-man-standing fight set in a decreasing play zone. Mods for large-scale online survival games like Minecraft and ARMA 2 spawned the genre in the early 2010s.

A well-ordered list of the top 10 best battle royale video games

The battle royale genre's quick development and success has been ascribed to a number of causes, including the fact that all players begin in the same vulnerable condition, removing any inherent advantage for players, and being well-suited for spectators eSport.

Other variables include the economic methods of individual games, such as the fact that Fortnite Battle Royale is free and available on desktops, consoles, and mobile platforms.

With that being said let’s take a look at the 10 best battle royales which has implemented this mode into their gameplay.

Totally accurate battlegrounds

Started as a joke, but gamers loved the wonky physics and the gameplay mechanics. Totally accurate battle simulator was already a success and then developers decided to create a new game with the previous game assets in a new genre, which was battle royale. Let us get into the details of this amazing yet silly game in this section of best battle royale games.

The game is similar to other battle royale games in that player must navigate a diminishing safe zone while gathering equipment like weapons to fight and remove opponents, with the goal of becoming the last player standing.

The game is distinguished by a physics engine that generates exaggerated character motions when moving or using weapons (including stretching limbs and exaggerated knockback when using guns), the ability to dual-wield weapons, and platforms with flowing lava that emerge from the ground in the final fighting circle.

Totally Accurate Battlegrounds was created as a parody of its previous game, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, and was supposed to be launched on April Fool's Day. With over 27,000 players as of August 2018, the game was the 18th most popular on Steam.

Spellbreak

Are you tired of guns but like magic instead? The Battle Royale games of 2021 has found the right game for you and that game is Spellbreak. With the magic elements and battle royale mode, Spellbreak is a free-to-play, class-based third-person shooter video game created by Proletariat.

Spellbreak is a projectile-based PvP shooter that, unlike other shooters, replaces weapons with gauntlets that fire magical spells, and with these new and innovative mechanics, the game is among the best PC battle royale games for 2021. Players may also float and carry one 'Rune,' which grants them abilities such as flight, teleportation, and invisibility.

Wind, fire, ice, lightning, stone, and poisonous are the six elemental classes available to players, each of which grants in-game bonuses connected to that element. Each player is given their class gauntlet at the start of the game and can choose one of the other five as a secondary.

Gauntlets have two types of attacks: a primary one called a spell, and a second one called sorcery. Mana, an energy source shared with levitation, is used to restrict spells, and utilizing sorcery sets off a cooldown timer.

Depending on strategic goals, elements from multiple gauntlets can be combined to make spells more potent, offer crowd control effects, or decrease others. The game also has role-playing and roguelike aspects, according to the creator.

Let us move on to more realistic and less cartoon-like games of

the

best battle royale games

.

Z1 battle royale

As the name suggests Z1 battle royale which was formerly known as H1 Z1, is one of

the battle royale games of 2021

.  Probably one of the most realistic battle royale games, Z1 had a number of technical difficulties when it first came out, including users being unable to log in to their accounts or join any live servers.

After the developer published a patch to solve previous issues, a new flaw was added to the game, which caused all servers to go offline. Despite the rocky start, Daybreak Game Company CEO John Smedley claimed in March 2015 that the game had sold over a million copies.

Like all other games of the 10 Best Battle Royales list, the game mechanics are the same, each match begins with players parachuting in from a random position above the map. They must find a means to protect themselves after they have landed.

This can range from taking a weapon and actively hunting down other players to hiding as other players kill each other. Vehicles may be found all throughout the globe, allowing players to pursue their opponents or flee quickly.

Players can scavenge a variety of goods, including guns, equipment, and first-aid kits, from their surroundings. The game also has a crafting system that allows players to manufacture improvised equipment like bandages or body armor by deconstructing scavenged materials.

The common magical force field is replaced with something relatively natural like toxic gas. A poisonous gas cloud compresses the area as the game advances, inflicting harm on those who remain inside.

Battlefield 5 Firestorm

Battlefield is a solid competitor for call of duty but its battle royale mode was on top of the best battle royale games for a short time as it was not something new or what the gamers wanted but, that short time that it was on the top gave us a reason to put this game on

the 10 Best Battle Royales

list.

The battle royale mode is based on the "fundamental pillars of destruction, team play, and vehicles" of the franchise. The term "Firestorm" refers to a physical firestorm that confines players, much to the famous Battle Royale game feature of limiting the play area.

Furthermore, this game mode was not developed by DICE but rather by Criterion Games, and it includes the franchise's largest terrain to date. It may be played by up to 64 people divided into up to 16 squads, with a focus on teamwork.

"Ultimately, Battlefield V will be defined by the success or failure of the upcoming Combined Arms cooperative mode, Firestorm battle royale mode, and whether or not DICE can consistently offer fresh and compelling content," Game Informer stated in its 8/10 review.

"Not as radical a shift up as its WW1 predecessor, nor as wild or fantastic, Battlefield 5's deliberative design overlooks its strengths as a simulative sandbox," GamesRadar+ said, complimenting the gameplay but criticizing the online multiplayer.

CRSED: F.O.A.D

A new name, yet so loved by the players, Cuisine Royale Second Edition: Fulfillment of All Desires or simply known as CRSED: F.O.A.D is among the Best PC Battle Royale Games for 2021.

The game originally became accessible in 2018 as an April Fools joke based on the engine of Enlisted, a studio-developed online shooter at the time. CRSED: F.O.A.D. pits dozens of players against one another on a battleground encircled by a decreasing ring of death, until only one player remains.

There is no parachuting/insertion phase in this battle royale game, and players are seeded randomly all across the area once matchmaking is completed. It's possible to play in first-person or third-person mode, with the latter requiring the use of flying camera drones to reveal the positions of individuals peeking around corners.

The game has also some unique elements which distinguish this particular battle royal from the others.

While all of the weaponry in the game are based on real-life weapons (half of them are from Enlisted), players may also utilize supernatural objects and talents (such as lunar gravity boots or a health-boosting cigar) (i.e. zombie summoning, temporary invisibility, or turning into a beast).

The game has been praised by many yet criticized by many others. in conclusion, this game is a solid contender for the best games among

the

Battle Royale games of 2021

.

Fall guys: ultimate knockout

Childish and cartoony, yet innovative and fun to play. Fall guys were the game that brought the ninja warrior show into the game in the form of battle royale. Players liked the concept and played the game nonstop and brought it into the spotlight.

Up to 60 people take control of jellybean-like critters and participate in a number of activities including obstacle courses and tag.

Since the game's initial release, many different courses have been added; the majority are team-based, while others require players to avoid falling into slime on a spinning, floating platform with obstacles designed to knock them in while waiting for a certain number of others to be eliminated, but the majority are obstacle courses that require players to race to the finish line as quickly as possible, lest they float away.

According to Metacritic, a review aggregation website, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout garnered "generally favorable" reviews and was regarded as one of

the best PC battle royale games for 2021

.

Call of Duty Warzone

Call of duty is a very famous game, thus warzone is too. Probably one of the top candidates of

the battle royale games of 2021

list, Warzone attracted a lot of gamers and was much more successful than its successor, blackout, which was another battle royale game, rather a black ops 4 game mode than a stand-alone game.

In comparison to Black Ops 4, Warzone encourages the acquisition of a new in-game currency called Cash rather than relying on equipable gadgets. In a single match, Warzone can accommodate up to 150 people, compared to the average number of 100 players in other battle royale games. Some limited-time modes can accommodate up to 200 players.

The game mechanic that makes this game unique is that players who are slain are transferred to the "Gulag," where they face off against another vanquished player in a one-on-one battle with the same armament.

The firearms given to the players have few, if any, attachments. The gulag is only accessible after a player's first death in a match. This battle's victor is respawned into the game. The in-game money system may be used to resurrect in other ways. Players can buy respawn tokens for other players with in-game cash if they are not resurrected via the Gulag mechanism.

The game has over 100 million users globally as of April 2021.

It was nominated for The Game Awards 2020 in the categories of Best Multiplayer and Best Ongoing.

Does warzone deserve to be nominated as the best of the battle royale games of 2021? You decide!

Apex legends

Free-to-play games are always fun to try out, but Apex is something that you would want to keep playing as long as you can because it is a game that would keep you and your computer busy for hours without you even noticing the flow of time.

Apex is on the list of the battle royale games of 2021 because not only it’s a battle royale but also many people are still playing this game in 2021, by many we mean enough to put this game 3rd on the list.

Apex Legends is an online multiplayer battle royale game in which three players form a team and use pre-made characters with unique powers known as "Legends," similar to those seen in hero shooters. Since the game's debut, alternate modes have been added that allow for single and two-player squads.

The game is free to play and is supported by microtransactions and loot boxes, which enable players to purchase cosmetic things like Legends' costumes and new weapon colors using both real money and in-game cash.

Apex Legends received mostly positive reviews when it was released, according to review aggregate Metacritic. Some media, including Destructoid, Game Informer, GamesRadar+, and PC Gamer, praised it as one of the greatest battle royale games to date, and a legitimate competitor to Fortnite Battle Royale's supremacy.

If you are eager to try the battle royale games of 2021, we suggest that you start with Apex.

Fortnite

We have reached the top 2 of the list and you can already guess which games made it to the top of the list.

Fortnite was already a successful game way before its battle royale mode was announced and released. By August 2017, right before the release of Battle Royale, the Save the World mode had surpassed one million players.

Epic Games split their staff between Save the World and Battle Royale to give better support for both modes once Fortnite Battle Royale became a commercial success.

Over 10 million people had played the mode within two weeks of its debut, and by June 2018, soon after the Nintendo Switch's release, it had surpassed 125 million players.

During the first half of 2018, revenue from Fortnite Battle Royale was expected to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars per month, with total 2018 revenue estimated to be $2.4 billion by analytical company SuperData Research.

By the end of 2019, Fortnite's total revenue has surpassed $9 billion. Fortnite is still one of the battle royale games of 2021 and you can try it out for free. The game is much more fun with friends.

Players Unknown Battlegrounds

Finally top game on the list and the top game of the battle royale games of 2021. Players Unknown Battlegrounds is s top-notch battle royale game. The game has everything you would expect from a realistic survival/battle royale video game. Players begin each match by parachuting from an aircraft onto one of the four maps.

Players must rapidly identify the ideal moment to eject and parachute to the ground as the plane's flight route across the map changes with each round. Players begin with no equipment other than customizable clothing options that have no bearing on gameplay.

Players can look for guns, vehicles, armor, and other items in buildings, ghost towns, and other locations once they've landed. At the start of a match, these goods are randomly dispersed around the map, with higher-risk zones generally having better gear. Players who have been killed can be plundered for their items.

According to review aggregation website Metacritic, Battlegrounds got "generally positive reviews" on all platforms, with the exception of the PlayStation 4 version, which garnered "mixed or mediocre reviews." The game also broke several player-count records during and after its early access period.

Bluehole provided data for the first four months of the game's release, revealing that over ten million Battlegrounds rounds had been played, equating to over 25,000 man-years of time.

Battlegrounds eclipsed long-standing popular titles on Steam, such as Fallout 4 and Grand Theft Auto V, in concurrent player count, finally topping Dota 2, the most played game on the site for years, in August 2017.

These statistics made the game the best battle royale game on the list and is still the king of the battle royale games of 2021.
