Skrtel was signed by Liverpool on 11 January 2008 from Zenit for a fee of £6.5m, this made Skrtel the most expensive defender in Liverpool's history, surpassing the £6m spent on Daniel Agger two years prior, becoming one of the Liverpool most expensive transfers in his time.

Although Skrtel had already established himself as one of Liverpool's key defenders in the previous seasons, the 2010-11 season was in many ways a breakthrough campaign for him. Skrtel was one of only two outfield players in the Premier League to achieve this feat, sharing with Leighton Baines.

Powerful centre-back Martin Skrtel gave eight-and-a-half years of committed service in Liverpool's defense, making 320 appearances and lifting the 2012 League Cup during his time at Anfield. Diaz managed to score 14 goals and record 4 assists in the first half of the season for Porto, improving his own record from the last two seasons and showing he is in fact a winger that has a lot of goals in him. In fact, he has already scored for Liverpool in 2 appearances he has made for the club but he has a long way to go to justify his £37.5 million price tag that could go as high as £50 million with add-ons. The Colombian winger was in great form during his third season at Porto. He had a good summer with Colombia's national team in the 2021 Copa America. Diaz ended up as the joint top goalscorer of the tournament alongside Lionel Messi. In 2019, he joined Porto for a reported fee of €7 million. Diaz won the domestic treble at Porto including Primeira League, Taça de Portugal, and Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. In his total of 125 appearances, Diaz scored 41 goals for the Portuguese side. After beginning his career with Brondby in the Danish Superliga, Agger caught the attention of Europe's top clubs and it was the Reds who succeeded in the race for his signature, which was sealed in January 2006. The classy left-footer made his Liverpool debut against Birmingham on February 1, though injury meant his first few months on Merseyside were spent largely on the sidelines.

However, the 2006-07 campaign saw Agger force his way into the starting XI, and he even won PFA Player of the Month for September. A 35-yard belter against West Ham did his kudos no harm, with the strike winning the club's Goal of the Season prize.

Back in domestic football, the Dane collected a medal with Liverpool in 2011-12. Sturridge was transferred to Liverpool FC on January 2, 2013, for a fee estimated at £12m. On January 6, Sturridge debuted for Liverpool against Mansfield Town in the third round of the FA Cup. Sturridge opened the scoring for the Reds after seven minutes of play.

The following weekend, he scored in his first league game as a substitute in a 2-1 loss to Manchester United. In his first Premier League start, Sturridge scored his third goal for Liverpool and his first home game, a 5-0 win over Norwich City at Anfield on January 19, scoring in his first three games, becoming the first player since Ray Kennedy in 1974 to do so.

Sturridge scored a 20-yard goal in a 2-2 draw with his parent club Manchester City on February 3. He followed that up on February 17 with an assist for teammate Jose Enrique and a penalty in a 5-0 win over Swansea City. He also netted in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea. Sturridge scored twice and provided an assist in a 6-0 win over Newcastle United in April.

The 2013-2014 season saw Coutinho put in a string of fine performances. Forming a formidable attack with Daniel Sturridge, Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling, and Luis Suarez, they carried Liverpool throughout the season. Liverpool dominated the Premier League and was in with a shout of winning the title. But in the last three games of the season, Liverpool lost to Chelsea and then drew with Crystal Palace.

They finished second in the league, two points behind Manchester City. He ended the season with five goals and seven assists in the league. However, his good performances were not enough to take part in the World Cup in his country.

Coutinho had another good pre-season, but it was difficult to confirm the hopes placed in him at the start of the 2014-2015 season. However, this has not prevented the club's directors, aware of his great potential, from offering him a contract extension. Coutinho's form in the early part of the season was not as good as it had been last season, and the 3-4-3 formation Brendan Rodgers had introduced enabled the team to win several matches.

Coutinho was appointed captain and scored his first hat-trick for Liverpool against Spartak Moscow in the Champions League on 6 December (7-0). In December, he scored four goals and provided as many assists.
