Napoli Summer Transfer Window of 2021-22: Live Updates

Napoli has been one of the most exciting Italian teams in recent years. Let's check out the Napoli 2021-22 transfers.

Napoli has established itself as one of the powerful Serie A teams. After the dream era with

Diego Maradona

, they declined but Aurelio De Laurentiis revived the club in the 2000s. With Walter Mazzarri they qualified for UEFA Champions League and challenged Juventus for Scudetto.

Edinson Cavani

left for Paris Saint-Germain and Partenopei replaced him with Gonzalo Higuain.

The next successful coach was

Maurizio Sarri

. After Sarri, Carlo Ancelotti came but he didn't settle for the second season and Gennaro Gattuso succeeded him. The most notable signings by Napoli in the past few years are Kostas Manolas, Hirving Lozano, and Victor Osimhen. Napoli paid €70 for Osimhen, making him the most expensive player for Partenopei.

Higuain, Manolas, and Lozano are respectively the next most expensive players moved to Napoli. The club failed to get the Champions League qualification with Gattuso and they hired

Luciano Spalletti

. He is an expert of qualification on a low budget and it seems like what exactly Napoli needs. Have a look at

Matteo Politano

On the very first day of

Napoli summer transfer window of 2021-22

,

Matteo Politano

was loaned to Napoli from Inter after half a season under

Antonio Conte

. The 3-5-2 formation Inter played had no place for a winger like Politano. From January 2020 to the end of the 2019-20 campaign, Politano played in 15 Serie A matches, and in the last season, he only missed one match.

The 27 years old winger scored 11 goals in his one and a half season at Naples. Politano joined Inter on loan from Sassuolo with an option to buy. Due to his good performance under Luciano Spalletti in Inter, they made his contract permanent by paying the €20 million buy-out clause. He left Inter on a similar loan transfer to Napoli with a 19 million buy out clause.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio,

Lazio

has shown interest in Politano for a permanent transfer this summer. The new Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri is trying to improve his offensive line and switch the team’s default formation and turn to 4-3-3. Despite Lazio's interest, Napoli is not willing to let Politano leave. The other reason that keeps Politano in Naples is the new Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti. He wanted Politano at Inter but they crossed paths in Napoli. The approval from Spalletti is confirmed and Politano is a Napoli player permanently.

Elseid Hysaj

Elseid Hysaj

left Napoli to reunite with Maurizio Sarri at Lazio. Hysaj came to Serie A with

Empoli

in 2014-15 with Sarri as their manager. Empoli surprised Italian football and the next year Napoli hired Sarri to replace

Rafa Benitez

. Elseid Hysaj and Mirko Valdifiori were two Empoli players who came to Naples with Sarri. Valdifiori left Napoli after making only 7 Serie A caps but Elseid Hysaj secured his spot in the starting line-up right away.

Napoli had a great season and finished the season as runners up while Hysaj was their most capped defender. In 2016-17 Napoli dropped one rank in the standings but Hysaj remained the most capped defender. The Albanian full back kept his spot even after Sarri, under Carlo Ancelotti and

Gennaro Gattuso

.

His capability to play on both sides secured him in the pecking order. The 27 years old became the alternative for the new full backs Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Mario Rui in his last two seasons at Napoli. He picked a good time for transfer and he could be a crucial player once again under his old coach.

Emerson Palmieri

Emerson Palmieri

is one of the names from the

Napoli 2021 transfers list

. The 26 years old Left-Back had an amazing season and won the Champions League with

Chelsea

. Napoli's new manager, Luciano Spalletti, was Palmieri's coach in Roma. Elseid Hysaj's departure opened up a full-back vacancy in Spalletti's squad.

Despite being a constant Italian national team player, joining Chelsea never became the first choice in Chelsea. After joining on a €20 million transfer from Roma, he made 32 appearances in two and a half Premier League seasons. There is only one year left from his contract with London Blues and he will become a free contract after the upcoming season. The Move to Napoli will prevent the free departure of Emerson.

Isco

Isco is getting closer to leaving

Real Madrid

and Napoli is a name linked to Isco. The Spanish midfielder is entering the final year of his contract with Real Madrid and if the club doesn’t sell him this summer he is going to leave on a free transfer. Milan in Italy and in London,

Arsenal

and Tottenham are linked to Isco. The unclear future of Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne has raised the rumors about Isco as his replacement.

The 28 years old has dropped in the pecking order in Real and his form has declined. Luciano Spalletti, the new manager of Napoli, admires Isco and in his tactics, a player like Isco can be very useful. It's not the first time Napoli move rumors are around Isco. When Carlo Ancelotti was Napoli manager Isco and

James Rodriguez

were the rumors of the new number 10 role. If the actual number 10 and captain leave Napoli, the Italian team will officially start the negotiation.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo

The Euro 2020 winning full back stays in Napoli.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo

has been one of the best players in Serie A in the past two years. The 28 years old full back was the best Serie A right back according to Whoscored.com stats. He was called up for Euro 2020 by Roberto Mancini. He benched the first half of the tournament's opening match but afterward, he became the main right back of Azzurri.

His great form attracted lots of attention from big clubs. The most notable offer Di Lorenzo got was from

Manchester United

. Man United has been watching him very closely and making contacts since March 2020. The Red Devils can go up to €20m for the full-back as they consider him ‘suitable’ to play in the Premier League. They extended his contract until 2026 and there's no way to his departure in the near future. Di Lorenzo has 69 caps for Napoli in Serie A scoring 6 goals.

Tiémoué Bakayoko

Napoli is one of the clubs considering

Tiémoué Bakayoko

to reinforce their midfield before transfer season ends. Chelsea’s midfielder has been linked with other Serie A clubs including

AC Milan

and Juventus. Also, Chelsea is looking for a way to offload him. His contract with Chelsea is until the 2022-23 season, and he has been on three season long loans to Milan, Monaco, and Napoli and has played only 20 games in his first season for Chelsea. All three clubs have had an option to make the move permanent but none of them did.

Reports show that AC Milan has offered the most concrete offer. Napoli passed on their €18m “verbal agreement” option to sign Bakayoko last season, and are still in need of midfield reinforcements. With only one year left on his contract, a one year loan deal which is really popular among Italian clubs, is not feasible for Chelsea. Of course, Chelsea could extend his contract, but no one wants to do that.

Lorenzo Insigne

Now that

Inter Milan

lost one of the best Serie A strikers in the previous season to Chelsea, they are considering Napoli’s captain as a replacement. In one of the Napoli transfer news, It’s been reported that they are prepared to offer

Alexis Sanchez

as part of the €15 million deal to Napoli.

Insigne

will be out of a contract in June 2022. Napoli has requested 25 to 30 million but Inter is hoping to lower the price by exchanging a player. They also have offered a four year contract and €6 million net per season plus bonuses to the 30 year old striker. Sanchez’s €7 million salary might be a problem for the club at the time.

Insigne has played nine seasons for the club and in almost 400 games, he has scored 109 goals in all the competitions. The Italian striker would like to stray but contract talks are reported to have stalled between him and his club. So, he will be open to greater salaries from other clubs. If Napoli can’t agree on a new deal until June 2022 Inter can make the transfer free next summer.

Juan Jesus

The former

Roma

and Inter Milan defender joins Napoli and will be united with his former boss Luciano Spalletti for a one year contract. His contract with Roma expired this summer and Napoli signs him on a free transfer.

The Brazilian central defender started his senior career in Inter and in four seasons he played in 142 games. In 2016, he went on a loan to Roma and after a season his contract became permanent. Roma paid a total of €10 million for the defender and in five seasons he was part of the squad in 102 games.

He wasn’t favorable with the former Roma boss,

Paulo Fonseca

, in the past two seasons and the club tried desperately to sell the player and offload his large salary. He refused multiple offers, preferring to stay at the club. But the new Roma boss is known for wanting young players in his squad so they released him at the beginning of the summer transfer window.

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa

André Zambo Anguissa is the most notable signing of

Napoli 2021 transfers

. The central midfielder left

Fulham

for Napoli. The 25 years old made his debut in Ligue 1 in 2015 at

Marseille

. His role in Marseille rapidly expanded and in his third season, Anguissa made 37 caps in Ligue 1. In 2018 Anguissa left Marseille to join the Premier League club Fulham. The transfer cost €25 million for Fulham.

The Cameroonian had 22 Premier League appearances and 3 caps in League Cup in his first season with the Whites. They finished in 19th place and were relegated to Championship. Anguissa didn't follow Fulham in the second tier of English football. Instead, he left on a loan to Spanish club

Villarreal

. Anguissa played in 39 matches for Villarreal and helped them finished 5th place and qualify for the Europa League.

Following Fulham's promotion to the Premier League, Anguissa returned to England.
