Hansi Flick has been fired as Germany head coach

Germany have fired coach Hansi Flick.

Germany

sack head coach Hansi Flick following their 4-1 defeat to Japan.

Flick's departure has been officially confirmed by DFB President Bernd Neuendorf.

"The men's senior national team needs new impetus after the recent disappointing results. We need a spirit of optimism and confidence in our own country."

he said in a statement.

"For me personally, it is one of the most difficult decisions of my time in office so far because I appreciate Hansi Flick and his assistant coaches as football experts and people. But sporting success is the top priority for the DFB. So the decision was inevitable."

Hansi Flick was selected as the head coach of the German national team in May 2021. He coached the team in 25 matches, won 12 games, and losses six.

Julian Nagelsmann is the favourite to replace Hansi Flick.
