Haaland admits Manchester City brought him to win them the Champions League

Manchester City star Erling Haaland admits they brought him to help them win the Champions League.

Manchester City

beat Leipzig 7-0 on Tuesday night to reach the

Champions League

quarter-finals stage. Erling Haaland becomes the third player in history who has managed to score five goals in a Champions League match.

The 22-year-old

Haaland

quicker than anybody in the history of the competition has reached the 30-goal mark. He has scored 30 goals in just 25 games.

After the game, Haaland said he can not even remember all of his five goals against Leipzig.

"It's all a bit blurry in my head,"

he told BT Sport.

"I don't remember the goals. I just remember shooting and [not] thinking. I'm so tired after the celebrations.

"A lot of the goals, I didn't think. I was just wanting to get the ball in the back of the net. The same with the second goal, with the third goal, with every goal.

"I think a lot of it is being quick in the mind and trying to do the right thing [in the moment]. A lot of it is in the head, I think."

Haaland could become the first man who has scored six goals in a Champions League match, but Guardiola substituted him in the 63rd minute.

The Norwegian star revealed that he told Guardiola that he liked to stay on the pitch.

"I told him when I went off I would love to score a double hat-trick,"

he added.

"But what can you do?"

Haaland also admitted that Man City brought him to make a difference for them in the Champions League.

"To give a statement that we can score seven goals in this competition, it is an amazing feeling,"

he added to CBS.

"The club wants to win the Champions League.

“Of course the club want to win the Champions League, they want to still win trophies,” he said. “They won the Premier League four times out of the last five years so they didn’t bring me in to win the Premier League – they know how to win the Premier League.

"So you can read between the lines. But I’m here to try to help the club develop even more, to try to win the Champions League for the first time.”
