Leicester sign Brazilian winger Tete on short-term deal

Leicester City has signed Brazilian winger Tete on a short-term deal.

Leicester City

has announced they have signed

Tete

from Lyon on a deal until the end of the season. Leicester has confirmed that he will return to

Shakhtar

in the summer.

Tete joined Lyon following the suspension of his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. A FIFA ruling last year allowed all foreign players based in Ukraine to suspend their contracts.

Tete's future at Shakhtar is unclear at this stage. FIFA are expected to reassess the rules regarding Ukrainian clubs in the summer.

Tete told the club's media:

"I'm really happy to be here. I've had a look at the pitch and the stadium, it's beautiful and I can already imagine what it'll be like with a lot of fans. I hope to score a lot of goals and assists. I hope they'll all be happy to see me play, I'm happy to be a Fox.”

The 22-year-old scored six goals and provided three assists in 17 matches in Ligue 1 this season. He also has represented Brazil at Under-20 and Under-23 level.

Leicester also recently signed Victor Kristiansen from Copenhagen for £13.1m. They are in 14th place in the table and will face Aston Villa in their next Premier League game on Saturday.
