Dalot gives a hopeful update on his contract talks with United as he declares his love for the club
With his contract up at the end of the season,
Man Uniteddecided to activate an option in
Dalot’s contract to keep him for yet another season. Both sides have since started negotiations for a new contract with improved salary with the Portuguese international being seemingly happy with how the talks are going.
"I think we are in a position to say that we are talking about it, we are negotiating, we are seeing how both parties will benefit. It is no secret that I am happy to be here,"
Dalot said
. "I love this club and I love to play for this club. We will see how things progress, but we are in a good direction for the team and, for me, this is the most important and, hopefully, individually I can still help the team."
Diogo Dalot has been ten Hag’s first-choice when it comes to right backs as the 23-year-old started every EPL match before the World Cup break. This alongside the contract discussions means that Dalot figures in ten Hag’s long-term plans going forward.
