Despite looking shaky at times, Arsenal’s performance excites Mikel Arteta

Gunners boss reveals what excites him the most about his side and it is not the wins!

In a thrilling match at Amex Stadium, the Gunners managed to capitalize on Manchester City’s slip-up once again and finish 2022 with 7 points clear of their closest rival Manchester City. However, Mikel Arteta isn’t excited about their position on the table but rather his players’ behavior in the locker room after each victory.

The Gunners were lethal in front of the goal as they went against their dark horse Brighton. An early goal from Saka put Brighton into shock and later Odegaard managed to double their lead in the first half. Then Eddie Nketiah once again proved his abilities by scoring early on the second half but drama was on the way as Brighton started hitting back.

The Seagulls managed to pull one back only to be met by a brilliant finish by Martinelli which made it four for

. Brighton scored two more goals however the third was ruled offside, therefore the Gunners took the three points with a 4-2 victory.

Speaking about his side, Arteta said:

"My excitement comes from going into the dressing room when the players are talking about what they should have done better today.  That means that they know that we can still play better and be better. And against Newcastle we have to be better."

Martin Odegaard

once again produced a masterclass performance, with his assist on Arsenal’s fourth goal being one of the best in the league so far. Arsenal skipper’s brilliance wasn’t lost on Arteta as he set to praising the Norwegian.

"He’s doing what we want him to do, which is decide football matches, work really had and deliver to the team what it needs in each moment of every game. The four front players scored again. Eddie, Bukayo and Martinelli. In crucial moments as well. That’s what we want that those players decide football matches when the team needs it and they’re doing it."

Arteta added.

The Gunners will face yet another tough opponent on Tuesday as they will face Newcastle United on home ground.
