Rodri: Spain will not change despite defeat to Japan

Spain midfielder, Rodri, insists that the Spanish players have learned their lesson from the shocking defeat against Japan.

Spain

lost 2-1 against Japan in their last group match and finished in second place. Luis Enrique’s side will face

Morocco

in the last 16 on Tuesday.

In a press conference ahead of the game against Morocco,

Rodri

said they have analysed the game against Japan and learned their lesson.

“It was ten minutes of collapse. We have been warned that a goal can knock us out (of the World Cup). We have analysed the game and the coach has pointed out that it cannot be repeated.”

Rodri who has played as a center-back for Spain at the World Cup, said they will not change their tactics despite their defeat against Japan.

“We will not change the way we play for the sake of failure. Football is failure and success. We will continue with our philosophy, knowing that in a match the details make the difference. We will play with a cool head, but without taking unnecessary risks.”

Manchester City star also said he has been impressed by Morocco and expects a tough match against them.

“They were first in their group, knocking Belgium out. They have very high individual quality, and as a collective they work very hard. We will need to be at our best to beat them.”

Dani Olmo and Alvaro Morata, who missed Saturday's training session, worked with the rest of the squad on Sunday but Cesar Azpilicueta trained apart from the rest of his teammates after suffering a knock against Japan.
