Mexico 0-0 Poland: Argentina alone at the bottom of Group C

With a shock 2-1 victory of Saudi Arabia over Argentina starting Group C of Qatar 2022, Mexico and Poland faced each other in the second game of the group with both sides trying to take advantage of Argentina's loss.

Qatar 2022 is

Mexico

's 17th World Cup appearance. Surprisingly, no team has played as many games as Mexico at the tournament without ever reaching the final. Meanwhile,

Poland

has a lot of hopes built in their captain Robert Lewandowski as they couldn't make it past the group stages since 1986. The two sides only met once before in the 1978th edition with Poland winning the game 3-1.

In a conservative first half, neither side really threatened the opposition as the two sides headed dressing rooms on a goalless draw. Mexico had most of the threats but were lacking the finishing touch.

Robert Lewandowski missed a penalty

in the 58th minute while both sides pushed further toward a potential winner. However, the two sides settled on a goalless draw to send Argentina alone at bottom of their group table, with Saudi Arabia remaining the unlikely leader of Group C of Qatar 2022.
