Ronaldo returns to Man Utd squad; Varane out until World Cup

Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Manchester United's squad for Thursday's Europa League match with Sheriff.

After Ronaldo left Old Trafford before the end of the 2-0 victory against Tottenham last Wednesday, Erik ten Hag decided to leave him out of the squad for the game against Chelsea on Saturday. Ronaldo also was forced to train alone and returned to group training on Monday.

Manchester United will face Sheriff in the Europe League on Thursday and Ten Hag in his press conference on Wednesday confirmed that Ronaldo will return to the squad. The Dutch manager also announced that Raphael Varane will not play for United before the World Cup due to injury.

He said:

”Cristiano will be in the squad tomorrow. Rapha Varane isn't. He will be out until the World Cup.”

Ten Hag also was asked what he said to Ronaldo before deciding to put him in the squad.

"It's not difficult. But I think we said everything and we answered all the questions, he was out for one game and is back in the squad as usual.

"You don't have to [ask more questions] because we will not answer anymore, so all the questions, I think, are everything we explained and we have to focus on the game tomorrow. We have an important game because we want to be number one in the group.

"I don't have to do it anymore, It's done, he's back, focus on the game, that's important that Cristiano is involved in the squad tomorrow."
