Man Utd’s Greenwood was denied a second bail

The Manchester United player will remain in custody after being accused of violating his bail for charges of attempted rape and assault.

Mason Greenwood

saw his family from the dock before standing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday for his charges of attempted rape and assault as well ass controlling and coercive behavior. All the charges are for one woman. The first time the 21-year-old was in custody was in January due to the allegations made and the images and videos that were posted on social media.

He was on bail ever since then but on Saturday he got arrested for the second time as he allegedly violated his bail conditions. The player’s family were in the small courtroom along with the press members.

Greenwood only spoke when he wanted to confirm his name, date of birth and address. The attempted rape is reported to have happened in October 2021, with the assaults taking place in December that same year. Manchester United suspended the player as soon as the allegations came out and Nike also terminated its sponsorship deal with the United player.

His court date is scheduled on November 21 and his team said that they plan to submit another bail application.
