Matthaus: Bellingham should start in every match at the World Cup

German legend Lothar Matthaus believes Jude Bellingham should start for England in every match at the World Cup.

The 19-year-old Bellingham joined

Dortmund

in 2019 and since then has scored 14 goals for them including last night against Sevilla in the Champions League.

Bellingham

already has scored four goals this season and German football legend Lothar Matthaus says he should start every game in the World Cup in Qatar for

England.

England has failed to win any of their past six competitive matches but Bellingham has earned Gareth Southgate's trust and has started England's last three matches. Kalvin Phillips is doubtful to be fit for the World Cup and Jordan Henderson has not been at his best this season, therefore, it seems Bellingham is favourite to start alongside Declan Rice for England in the World Cup.

"He's someone English football fans need to be hugely excited about,"

the 61-year-old Bundesliga television pundit told FourFourTwo.

"With his mentality, he's not somebody that needs to be treated as a young player who hopes for a few minutes here and there, he's a player who should be starting every match.

"He's becoming an important part of the national team and, in my opinion, he has the potential to be one of the best midfielders England have ever produced.

"I played against some pretty good ones myself and I see those qualities in him.”

England is in Group B with the United States, Wales, and Iran. Southgate’s side will start their tournament against Iran on November 21. They then will play with the United States and Wales.
